American Mensa Election
Here are my recommendations for the 2024 AMC Election.
Second Vice Chair - Jon Grueble
I've had many discussions with Jon on a variety of Mensa topics. In each, he has been informative and listens to my point of view. He shows flexibility in his views. Jon has many years experience within American Mensa, both at the local group level and national. He's level headed and I believe will be able to support changes which needed in American Mensa.
Josh Heinzl is one of several people running for national office with no local group experience.
Treasurer - Beth Anne Demeter (with reservations)
Beth Anne has leadership experience both at the local level and at the AMC, as well as relevant professional experience. Greg has only had a limited role in his local chapter (and seems confused about who appointed him RG Chair). He does not appear to have relevant professional experience. I have heard comments about temperament issues.
During a campaign debate on April 14, Greg made a number of good points about American Mensa's finances, criticizing the size of the budget and the lack of clarity about how the increased dues would be used. Beth Anne, who voted for the dues increase, seemed unclear on the budgeting process. Several times she said that the AML budget included expenses for the Mensa Foundation, which it does not. (The annual auditor report consolidates the finances of AML and MERF, but the budgets are independent.)
Secretary - John Neemidge
I've known John (and his wife, Geri) for a long time, attending their wedding when they lived in the San Francisco Bay Area. I think John would make an excellent Secretary, working to improve the transparency of the AMC.
