Campaign Statement
I’ve served in many roles since I joined Mensa: editor, RG (and Asilomar) chair, LocSec, and many more. My goals have been to make SFRM a leading local group, with an excellent newsletter, an extensive calendar of events, an RG which is well attended, to maintain stable and sustainable finances, and promote an engaged membership. I haven’t done this alone; I’ve worked with an outstanding group of volunteers. My goals have always been to encourage and help other volunteers to be the best that they can be, to find solutions to problems, and to strive for that sometimes elusive goal: excellence. My approach has always been to seek consensus, working together rather than having winners and losers. I’m happy to say I’ve been mostly successful.
Many members (and former members) feel that they are not getting what they want from American Mensa, and our declining membership reflects this. They want more transparency, more activities, more engagement. They want less dissembling, less infighting, less autocratic behavior. Within Region 8, I hope to promote better communication and local group success. At the national level, I hope to be a voice of reason.
