8. What would you plan to focus on to aid American Mensa in achieving its strategic plan? Limit your answer to 100 words or less.

My interest is in providing local groups the resources and assistance they need to succeed. This supports them in serving their members, which in turn improves member satisfaction which contributes to the “Value” strategic priority.

9. The AMC is a strategic and governing board, providing direction and oversight for the long-term benefit of Mensa. Achieving the strategic plan is primarily done through committees and our national office staff. How will you distinguish between being a strategic board member rather than a working volunteer? Limit your answer to 100 words or less.

Many volunteers are happy to lend a hand to do whatever is needed, then go on about their business. The role of a person in a leadership position, whether in a local group or at the national level, is to promote the involvement of other volunteers, helping them, by providing guidance and resources, to achieve success. This also involves monitoring progress and making course corrections as needed. Achieving strategic plan goals should be a “we did this” activity, not an “I did this”.
